A short post to tell you all a Merry Christmas!
All the love from Voorhout
A long promised post
A little review of Shanghai :)
Shanghai, A city of millions in all different aspects. The amount of inhabitants, the amount of tourists, the amount of buildings and the amount of kilometres you should just wander about in it. It has been a while since I have been there but I still think it was one of the nicest cities to go while I was in China.
My stay was short but still I wanted to see more than just the touristy things and that is why I just wandered in the city for 3 full days. I walked from touristy thing to touristy thing getting completely lost but still finding my way back again :)
The perfect place to stay when you are backpacking is the Mingtown Hiker International Youth Hostel, Cheap, comfortable and so easy to get to! Walking from there to the Bund is just stunning and with a short subway ride you can get anywhere. If you have a lot of money the Hotel with the best view is probably the Peninsula, around the corner from Mingtown.
Things you have to see or do?!
- The bund, at sunrise and in the night.
- Relax near to the Sience Museum or in the park close-by.
- If you are there anyway go shopping in the underground market.
- Wander through the central business district, visit the Apple-store
- Visit French Concession and take your time!
- Get lost south of French Concession close to the river and meet wonderful Chinese.
- Try to make this list longer
So that is pretty much what you have to do in Shanghai, even though there are a lot of things you should do more. I just think you should find out for yourself!
Have a wonderful weekend and see you soon!
Love from Eindhoven!
There are some pictures of Shanghai on my other blog and the first picture on this blog was in Shanghai too
It has been a long long time!! I was very busy and also a bit lazy ;)
While in uni I am just doing the things I have to do, I have to do a lot for the committee as well! And while that sounds like it is enough I have to do some sports as well! I think I’ll post a bit more for a little while from now on. I have some more pictures too, so on my other blog I can post something too :P
Love you all and greetings from Eindhoven!!
Tomorrow Shanghai review?
Twenty years young :) My birthday is today!!
I have been to busy to post anything!! I’ll try as soon as possible!!
20 - Eindhoven - Praktika LTL
01 – They never tell you when they are going to crash
02 – If they tell you the trains are cancelled, they don’t have enough busses to compensate this
03 – They think that everybody has free when they are working on the tracks
04 – If they see me in the system they think it is time to delay everything
05 – When it rains/snows/is a bit windy, everything comes to a stop
06 – Nobody seems to know anything about anything
07 – All countries have different systems, which work all better than the Dutch system and if they don’t I like them more because it means I am on holiday!
Reason to love the public transport
01- it gets me everywhere!
02 – It is free, that is in the weekends and just for me as a student
03 – Environmentally friendly?
04 – It is a lot of fun to watch people using it
I had a shit weekend using the public transport system in the Netherlands, delayed and cancelled trains, accidents on the tracks, not enough busses and cancelled underground trains, which seems a lot for just one weekend but it is true, this all happened just this weekend!!
My life without Facebook is almost at a new milestone, 50 days!!
I am doing great I hope you guys are doing great too.
See you all soon
Love from Eindhoven
Facebook-less on a Wednesday, over 40 days :)
I am learning a lot but sometimes I am a bit distracted ;) So a very short blog right now!!
I am ok, I hope you are!!
This week I hope to write some more blogs but it is a bit busy so maybe not, but soon there are going to be reviews of HK, Shanghai and Beijing and more!!
Love you all
The first day of the week,
I was going to write something about this day but I am out of inspiration!!
So, my review of Houjie!!
Houjie, Dongguan, Guangdong, P.R. China
A suburb of Dongguan (A million city in the most populated province of China) and with almost a million inhabitants one of the biggest.
Houjie is not your average (holiday-) destination, except if you are in the shoe-business. Houjie is the shoe-factory of the world and most of the expats/tourists are people from the shoe-business. So if you are in to that stuff or are you just a bit of a shoe-freak you should go there, cheap real shoes everywhere!! If you ask me this is not my favourite holiday-destination. Hahahah, it is a great destinations though for two things (except for the shoe thingy):
1. If you really fully want to emerge yourself in the ‘modern, hardworking’ Chinese culture this is the place to stay for a longer period of time. These people are from all around China just to find work. (In Guangdong only there is about 79 million people living and 31 million migrant workers.) Some of them are crazy just when they see you!!
2. There are some nice landmarks. (As you can see on my blog) There is a nice pagoda, 2 actually, and if you really spend the time and walk around, there is some undiscovered beauty. (Except for the highways being build!!)
So Houjie as a tourist-destination: 3/10, do you have a bit more time though and would like to fully emerge yourself in modern China, rent a room (not in a hotel) and spend at least a few months there: 8/10
I might do some more of these reviews of other things, short, fast and maybe useless!!
Love you all!!
